Preliminary SAT® (PSAT)

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a standardized practice test for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Reasoning Test™.  The test also gives students an opportunity to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs.  The PSAT/NMSQT is taken in the student's junior year in high school.  Students may choose to take the test in their  sophomore year.

National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT)

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships.  High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT®— a test which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.3 million entrants each year.  The PSAT/NMSQT must be taken no later than the junior year of high school.
